About me:  I grew up on a farm in Iowa and had my own garden as a child, which cemented my love of eating and cooking with healthy, fresh foods. Competing in track in high school sparked my interest in sports nutrition and I’m now a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. I still love to lift weights, play sports, golf with friends and run on a regular basis. I have 2 boys and my oldest has had food allergies since he was a baby. We have a dairy-free, nut-free, egg-free, sesame-free style of eating in our house.

Favorite Food: Ice cream!

Favorite way to exercise: Hot yoga, especially Bikram.

Specialities: Sports nutrition (especially endurance athletes), weight management, food allergies, and other special diets.

#1 healthy eating tip: Focus on the 80/20 rule. The breakdown is simple: 80 percent of the time you focus on eating good-for-you foods, and 20 percent of the time you have the freedom to indulge as you please.

Biggest nutrition pet peeve: People eating organic chips and cookies thinking they’re healthier. Yes, they are made with organic ingredients, but  an organic cookie is still a cookie, which means you’re still filling up on empty calories
