Every week we highlight a Rise member whose story inspires us. Chelsea started using Rise two months ago, to counteract the effects of her sedentary office job. With the help of her coach, Chelsea has reshaped her habits to trim down and get healthier, despite her busy schedule.
What does your average day look like?
I sit on a computer all day at work, and that was part of my weight problem. Previously when I was working full-time on a horse farm, my day was very active. Back then I could eat an entire pizza without gaining weight. Now my office job is more sedentary, so I was looking to change the way I eat.
What has your weight loss journey been like, pre-Rise?
In the past I’ve done calorie counting, but it didn’t work for me. It was just too much to keep track of on a daily basis. I work full-time (sometimes 50 hours a week) so it can be stressful. The company provides a lot of free snacks for us, which can be both good and bad!
When and why did you join Rise?
I ran into Rise in the app store and thought “this looks interesting.” I did some research and about a week later I signed up.
How much weight have you lost?
Since joining two months ago, I’ve lost just under 13 pounds.
What’s your favorite thing about Rise?
I like how accessible the nutritionists are, so I can ask for advice about what to eat as well as feedback on the meals I log. At work they offer catered lunch. We know on Wednesday what options will be available, so I ask my coach for input about what to choose that week and really appreciate her guidance.
What has been your biggest challenge?
I hate cooking. I still really don’t like it. I’ll kinda look at the recipes and scale it down to something I can put in the rice cooker or oven for 20 mins. But cooking more is getting easier with practice, and it’s saving me a lot of money.
What’s you favorite thing about your Rise coach?
I really like that my coach Deborah is a busy mom. I don’t have kids, but I am incredibly busy. I like that she understands a more hectic lifestyle. She’s able to give me ideas about quick and easy things I can actually fit into my routine. She also helps remind me to get variety in my meals. I’m the kind of person who if I know that I can make a week of pb&j sandwich for lunch, I’ll stick to that. She helps me find easy ways to work in more variety while making healthy choices.
Are there other ways your life has changed?
I can fit in my jeans! I haven’t been able to fit in them for a really long time. I feel better, I feel lighter. I started running with my family, until it got really hot this summer. Then we started walking instead, but when it cools down we’ll start running again. You could be our next member of the week! Work with Deborah Stegman, Chelsea’s awesome coach. When you signup with her, you’ll get $10 off your first payment.
